Monthly Meeting – June 2, 2016: “Using County Resources”, by Gary Carlsen

Most counties have a wealth of locations providing genealogical information from birth to burial. Our county is no exception. Join Gary as he shows us some of these forgotten sites and places using Monterey County as an example. You can get a head start on his talk by reviewing the files we have here for Monterey County under the Genealogy tab. The methods we learn should apply to any county.

Gary Carlsen began his genealogical research in 1990, and he has been pursuing both his and his wife Carolyn’s, a seventh-generation native Californian, ancestors for the past 24 years. In that time, he has located over 20,000 family members to which he and his wife are related. Gary has been member and officer of the MoCoGenSo from 1990 to present, and during that time has held several positions on their Board of Directors. He served as President for four years, and has remained secretary, Editor of the society’s Bimonthly Newsletter, and Society Genealogist. He is also a Volunteer Librarian at the Family History Center, for the past 22 years.

Doors open at 6:15 pm, the meeting starts at 7:00 pm. We’ll see you at the Family History Center, 1024 Noche Buena, Seaside, CA., left rear of building.

“This weekend’s forecast shows a 0% chance of cooking or cleaning, with a good chance of sitting in my pajamas chasing ancestors.”
