Newspapers feature a wealth of exclusive material – including information on wars, tragedy, social events, obituaries, marriages, births, military service, employment, and other fascinating events in our history. Local town gossip is what our older newspapers used to keep subscribers wanting more. Many used information from other larger newspapers to fill in major stories. So you could find a story in New York or Boston in the newspapers in Virginia, Chicago, or San Francisco.
Major Newspaper Resources to be covered: genealogybank.com, ancestry.com, Library of Congress (Chronicling America), google.com, fultonhistory.com, State Digital Newspaper Collections, and our Local Seaside – Family History Center.
